Blackout Poetry Contest

I recently entered a Blackout Poetry Contest because I've been trying to challenge myself to try more creative outlets in order to get my mental juices flowing and to be more confident. It was actually extremely hard for me to work up the nerve to turn in my piece once it was complete - but I did...and I won! I felt so happy and proud of myself for the first time in a long time. Sometimes it pays off to put yourself out there!

"Splendid"

The empty shells of rockets The children in corners These changes Too late The wind blows by And misses It splatters the heart The sharp breath gripped tightly It slays her Murderers live with impunity It slays her Crippled by resentment Innocent and wise In the end Hope
